Chapters I wanted to stay the same;
Chapter 7: The Boggart in the Wardrobe
Chapter 10: The Marauder's Map
Chapter 11: The Firebolt
Chapter 13: Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw

In chapter 11, I find Hermione very annoying! I don't remember finding her that, but she is not as much as in the movie.

In the last chapter, chapter 13, we are introduced to Cho Chang.
Why did I not remember I find her annoying? And I do wish they kept the end of Chapter 13 the same, where Sirius came back a second time and was seen as a human.

Ron panted as they climbed their seventh long staircase and emerged on an unfamiliar landing, where there was nothing but a large painting of a bare stretch of grass hanging on the stone wall......

Harry was watching the painting. A fat, dapple-gray pony had just ampled onto the grass and was grazing nonchalantly. Harry was used to the subjects of Hogwarts paintings moving around and leaving their frames to visit one another, but he always enjoyed watching it.A moment later, a short, squat knight in a suit of armor clanked into the picture after his pony. By the look of the grass stains on his metal knees, he had just fallen off.

"Aha!" he yelled, seeing Harry, Ron, and Hermione. "What villians are these, that trespass upon my private lands? Come to scorn at my fall, perchance? Draw, you knaves, you dogs!"

They watched in astonishment as the little knight tugged his sword out of its scabbard and began brandishing it violently, hopping up and down in rage. But the sword was to long for him; a particularly wild swing made him overbalance, and he landed facedown in the grass.

"Are you alright?" said Harry, moving closer to the picture.
"Get back, you scurvy braggart! Back, you rogue!"

The knight seized his sword again and used it to push himself back up, but the blade sank deeply into the grass and, though he pulled with all his might, he couldn't get it out again. Finally, he had to flop back down onto the grass and push up his visor to mop his sweating face.

"Listen," said Harry, taking advantage of the knight's exhaustion, "we are looking for the North Tower. You don't know the way, do you?"

"A quest!" The knight's rage seemed to vanish instantly. He clanked to his feet and shouted, "Come follow me, dear friends, and we shall find our goal, or else shall perish bravely in the charge!"

He gave the sword another fruitless tug, tried and failed to mount the fat pony, gave up and cried, "On foot then, good sirs and gentle lady! On! On!"

And he ran, clanking loudly, into the left side of the frame and out of sight.

They hurried after him along the corridor, following the sound of his armor. Every now and then they spotted him running through a picture ahead.

"Be of stout heart, the worst is yet to come!" yelled the knight, and they saw him reappear in front of an alarmed group of women in crinolines, whose picture hung on the wall of a narrow spiral staircase.

Puffing loudly, Harry, Ron, and Hermione climbed the tightly spiraling steps, getting dizzier, and dizzier until at last they heard the murmur of voices above them and knew they had reached the classroom.

"Farewell!" cried the knight, popping his head into a painting of some sinister-looking monks. " Farewell, my comrades-in-arms! If ever you have need of noble heart and steely sinew, call upon Sir Cadogan!"

"Yeah, we'll call you," muttered Ron as the knight disappeared,"if we ever need someone mental."

Can I just mention how much I want a Sir Cadogan in my pictures?!?!

Chapters I wished stayed the same in Chamber of Secrets:
Chapter 16: The Chamber of Secrets
Chapter 17: The Heir of Slytherin

I can't remember the chapter it was in, but I wish the part where Ginny tried to confess to being the "heir of Slytherin" at the breakfast table was in the movie.

Chapters I wished stayed the same, so far, in Prisoner of Azkaban:
Chapter 1: Owl Post
Chapter 3: The Knight Bus
Chapter 4: The Leaky Cauldron

I would of loved to see all these chapters played out in the movie in the entirely.

Chapters I wished were kept in the movie:

Chapter 6: Gilderoy Lockhart
Chapter 9: The Writing on the Wall
Chapter 10: The Rogue Bludger
Chapter 11: The Duelling Club
Chapter 12: The Polyjuice Potion
Chapter 13: The Very Secret Diary

I wish they showed how arrogant Lockhart was in the movie!
I would loved to see how the Duelling Club chapter and the Very Secret Diary went!

Sorry I haven't had much to say on the books. Either I want the chapters to be the same or am glad they didn't go they way they were written...It's kinda funny. This second time I am reading it over, I have more of an opinion of "this could of been better" or "OMG, I love it!" But I have already moved onto Chamber of Secrets. I am already on chapter 5 of Chamber Secrets.

So here are the chapters I wish would of stayed the same in Sorcerer's Stone:
Chapter 15: The Forbidden Forest
Chapter 16: Through The Trapdoor
Chapter 17: The Man with Two Faces

The chapters I wish would of stayed the same in Chamber of Secrets.
Chapter 3: The Burrow
Chapter 4: Flourish and Blotts

Chapter 10 Halloween. I wish the directors of the movies left how bad Draco and Harry hated each other, so at the end, where Harry saved Draco could have more significance such as in the books. I do love the part where Draco tried to get Harry in trouble when Professor McGonagall gave him the broom for his Quidditch school career, and was flabbergasted to know it was already known within the teachers.

Nothing on Chapter 11: Quidditch

Chapter 12 The Mirror of Erised. This is the chapter I can relate to the most. I can relate to Harry Potter so much in this book. Not that it is the deepest, most desperate desire, as Dumbledore put it, of my heart. That would be peace. But to see your relatives again would be something I would love to do. Something my heart would desire.
This part I can relate to a lot;
he stared hungrily back at them, his hands pressed flat against the glass as though he was hoping to fall right through it and reach them.

Why couldn't Chapter 6 The Journey From Platform Nine and Three Quarters and Chapter 7 The Sorting Hat happen in the movie exactly as it happened in the books? I loved reading those chapters and reliving the story, as J.K. Rowling written it.
Chapter 8 The Potions Master, Why couldn't they express how much Snape seemed to dislike Harry in the movies, as they did in this chapter. I LOVE Alan Rickman and am so sad this world lost him last year, but they could of let him release the meanness he could of done in these movies! Wasted! I know Alan Rickman could of EXCELLED at this role, not that he didn't do it already, if he was allowed to be the Snape in the books!

Chapter 9 The Midnight Duel, the part where Neville goes up into the air on the broom during the flying lessons has already made me wonder if it wasn't Voldemort's doing, knowing Harry Potter is now at the school and within his reach. I have always wondered it. And still do everytime I watch the movie to this book.
It especially makes me wonder when I read this part, His broomstick was still rising higher and higher, and started to drift lazily toward the forbidden forest and out of sight.

After all the forest is where Quirrell came across Voldemort and where we see he was at in the movie, drinking the blood of the unicorn. Why couldn't he be in there, watching what would happen during flying lesssons?

So I haven't done one in two days since I didn't have much to say except one thing each chapter, so I thought I would cram them in in one entry.

Do not mind me. This entry is a bunch of I wish they kept this in the movies.

Chapter 3 The Letters From No One.I wish they kept all the places the Dursleys and Harry went to get away from the letters. That would be a funny site to see!

Chapter 4 The Keeper of Keys. I wish they kept the whole scene of Hagrid coming to get Harry, even the little bit at the beginning of Chapter 5 Diagon Alley. Why couldn't they keep the way everyone greeted him in the Leaky Caludron?

And I would slap Draco for the comment he made about Hufflepuff while getting measured for his robes! HUFFLEPUFF RULES!
miscuartosamores: (hogwarts belle and adam)
Why did Dudley have to be brunette and not blonde in the movie? Probably would of had a fatter version of Tom Felton.

Why couldn't they have included the dream, which was obiviously a memory, Harry Potter had of a lying motorcylce that is mentioned at the beginning of the chapter?

And why was Mrs. Figg not introduced in the first movie like she was introduced in the first book? I would love to know her character more. But I am glad that Marge wasn't introduced in the first movie like the book. I hate the character. Want to punch her in the face!
And glad that Dudley's best friend, Piers, wasn't introduced either!

And why couldn't they kept the instances things happened around Harry, before Harry learned he was a wizard? I would have loved to see that in the movie version!

Why couldn't they include, too, how strangers would acknowledge Harry?

But yes, I am hating the Dursley's more. They are such asses!

So it is the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. And along with that, Pottermore now has a book club and this week they are focusing on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, so I thought I would read my copy, but since I am an American, I have Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Though, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone won't reach its 20th anniversary until October 2018.
Instead of using Twitter, such as the Pottermore book club, I will use my journal for thoughts and questions.

First, I wish they started the movie out as the book was started, Mr. Dursely, starting his day like a normal day, but noticing weird things like a cat reading a map, giving him a stern look, and reading a road sign, people in cloaks and calling him a muggle. How the muggles noticed something going on. But that's the point of making movies, right? Got to cut some parts out, but that's what I do not like about books being turned into movies.

But to my questions, do you think some of the people going around town that Mr. Dursely saw could be part of Harry's life in the future, such as through Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, etc?

Do you think the shorter guy who hugged Mr. Dursely and called him muggle could be Professor Flitwick? I believe it could be because, after all, Professor McGonagall was out all day being a cat, watching the Dursleys.

And is it me or does it seem like Vernon is nicer in the book than the movie?

Do you think Dumbledore was a little naïve to bring Harry to the Dursely's, though, Dumbledore said it was the best place for him? That the Dursely's would explain it all to him, when they didn't? I think he should of been left with Sirius.

I think the beginning of the chapter is symbolic that this is the first day their lives, Harry, the wizarding world, and the Dursley's, would never be the same. I love it!

And I love the fact, at the beginning, they didn't know what stopped Voldemort from killing Harry, so they were astounded to know a baby stopped him. Though, we do know later what it was. That love, true love, is what stops evil!

I love the ending.....
Harry Potter rolled over inside his blankets without waking up. One small hand closed on the letter beside him and he slept on, not knowing he was special, not knowing he was famous, not knowing he would be woken up in a few hours' time by Mrs. Dursley's scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley....He couldn't know that at this very moment, people were meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: "To Harry Potter---the boy who lived!"

I started to read up more on the Russian overtake of livejournal. I do not care for it, so I am moving over to dreamwidth, personally. I will still use this journal for the community, [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsishome. But I will no longer post here. I am over at dreamwidth here.
